Deep in the furnace.

Isaiah 43:2 AMP

“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they will not overwhelm you. When you walk through fire, you will not be scorched, Nor will the flame burn you.

 “Character or comfort”

Isaiah 43:2 is clearly not a Promise for the faint of heart, but it is meant for all who might read it! You and I are bound to go through the trial of water and fire. It is an unavoidable fate which no man can undo; if you breathe you will go through trials.

Keep your head up today – God is not man which idly makes promises – He keeps them – He backs them up with truth and His presence, when you are deep in the furnace and call on His name; He will answer because He’s always been there—by your side.

Sure, we all want a peaceful life with smooth sailing all the time but we as Christians need to be realistic about things. God does scoop you out of the fires of hell, but like any good father, our God is more concerned about character than comfort. So, take in your stride when you are tested and do not mutter under your breath as you are not alone, you are not singled out—do not take it personal when you are refined.

God is compacting and purifying your character to make you more of you! Take heart, even Christ Jesus, was tested and humbly chose the way of God [Mark 14: 34-36].

Let’s Pray:

Father, although my heart trembles and pulses in my chest, Lord I bow down at your feet. I surrender and thank you that you never have left my side! You always have been there in the deep depths of despair and in my joyous highs. You are the promise keeper—the keeper of my soul!

In Jesus’ name. Amen!
