Are you Salty enough?

By Koa Sinag

COLOSSIANS 4: 2-6

“2 Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. 3 And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. 4 Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should. 5 Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. 6 Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.”

Are you a bit Salty?

I have added verses 2 and 3 to link in with the importance of Prayer and that we are called to proclaim the “mystery of Christ,” but we’ll be focusing more on verses 5 and 6.

What do you leave behind in people’s lives? This is very much an important question that we can’t avoid anymore. I understand that “self” is important, but we, the Salt of the earth, need to make things flavorful around us. As we approach the coming and Jesus’ last words were “go out into the word,” are we really doing enough?

Remember I mentioned the 3-foot rule before? Let’s recap: It’s making use of every opportunity that God has placed you in to add some SALT. God will send them into your 3-foot sphere of influence. Make use of this opening today as you are out in the world. Keep your eyes and heart open—God has been sending them to us, but we have lost our saltiness—our voice of ministry.

Have you ever tasted meat without salt? It does not really have a nice flavour, but add just a pinch of salt and spices, and suddenly it is to die for.

Let’s Pray:

Father, I have lost track of my true purpose and have lost my voice for your kingdom. Please, forgive me!

Remove anything that can stand in the way of my being obedient. Refocus me. Today, please send someone into my life whom I can minister to.

In Jesus’ name. Amen!
