Battle fields or better fields.

1 Peter 1:6-7

6 In this you rejoice greatly, even though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been distressed by various trials, 7 so that the genuineness of your faith, which is much more precious than gold which is perishable, even though tested and purified by fire, may be found to result in [your] praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

“Hopeful in your Hopelessness”

Do not take it personally when you go through hard times or tests. These days, months, or seasons can be tempering, but we all need to understand that we do not serve and love God because He takes away difficulties, but when they do come your way, He sticks around. Our God is loyal, caring, and abounds in forgiveness!

But today I will discuss more self-inflicted seasons of pain—those things that consume us or that we just don’t want to let go of. We are all sinners, although we strive to be just like Christ Jesus. It is such an amazing grace that even though we are far from perfect because of the blood, we are seen as clean and washed, and we are now children of God.

Let’s dig in a bit deeper. Christ does not expect us to be perfect, as he understands our human condition, but what he requires from us when we ask for help and healing is to be obedient. If He says let go, you let go! If he says jump, you ask how high. We are such a fickle species, and most of our mental workings are constructed in such complex ways. You are what you eat, where you live, and who raised you; the list is very long.

Your first 7 years of life are very important, as scientists claim that your brain is in a “hypnotic” open-wave state, which enables us to take in a lot of information—good and bad. If your environment was favourable, you most probably will be a well-adjusted individual now. So, knowing this, how do we approach sticky mindsets, recurring sin, and mental illness as Christians?

Not all of us are battling “old demons,” but for those who suffer daily, it is real, and it consumes their soul. It is a heavy burden to carry all alone. My advice to you is: If you’re struggling with something, please don’t give up the good fight! Hold on more tightly to Jesus and wrap yourself with the Holy Spirit; ask for others to pray for you in this season, which will stop—it has to stop. It will end with you as the victor! We do not always understand why God allows these thorns, but what I do know is that this is God’s way of preparing us for either battle fields or better fields.

Let’s Pray:

Father, you understand me better than anyone; you called me to be, and I know you love me. I know that I am forgiven!

Please help me with my inner struggles, help me to yield, and let you take my yoke. It is heavy, and I can’t do this anymore. I give you my past, today, and all of my tomorrows! Heal me completely! I am yours forever.

In Jesus’ name. Amen!
