What to believe about x-mas in 2024.
Things are not as they seem when it comes to our festive seasons.
Do we as parents even consider what we “feed” culturally and how we influence our children’s belief system? They will become a mix of all our beliefs we teach them and their peers. With the chaos in cultural thinking, my best advice is to stay clear of introducing wordly ideas and precepts to your children when young. When led by the Holy Spirit, we can confidently walk and make bold decisions that will conflict with the world’s thinking. Xmas father has NO connection with Christ and never will! How can making an idol of a gluttonous (fat) burglar (who breaks into your house) be a good thing? Christmas should only be about Christ and not mixed in with worldly traditions.
If you have children, do not let them parttake in the commercialised theme of Christ’s birth. If Christmas should be important in your household, it should be toned down and all the “bells and whistles” removed, as it should be about Christ’s birth.
Even though our daughter is only 3; we can just run with the theme and tell lies about an old man delivering free gifts based on if she was naughty or not. I tend to think that having to later explain why the fat white-bearded gift-bearing burglar was not real and that she has to now forget about him and focus on Christ is wrong. This is foolish because you can just tell your children the truth—Christmas is all about Christ and not gifts. I do not want to hand down any false teaching onto my kids; I want them to know Christ in His fullness and not that gifts and Xmas father comes first and then “o by the way, it’s Jesus’ birthday.”
Christ’s gift is free regardless if you are good or bad. Christ came to set things right with God. Give your children the gift of truth this Christmas and teach them about why Christ came.
Simply put, WHAT YOU PUT into their heads/minds they will believe! We do not tell her about xmas father and buy her gifts, as Christmas has become a worldly seromony that pleases the flesh and based on how you feel rather than how Christ’s birth has saved our souls. The moment the world stepped into Christmas, we Christians should have already been scrambling for the first exit available. If it is not all about Christ, we should not parttake!
In the end, it is all your choice; Christmas and Xmas are not the same thing. Do not teach your kids the ways of this world—it is wrong!
